imagine this. it's january 5th and i just finished this draft and promptly leave it alone to be scheduled for valentine's day next month. then, on january 14th (Exactly One Month Before Valentine's Day) they dropped this signal where nien Actually gives seoyeon her ring. Dude? Woah. Guys. this just made me feel Crazy.

 

260208 edit: i wrote this way back in january under the assumption that modhaus would hold a fansign on valentine's day like they did last year, and turns out they didn't lmfao. in any case, i just wanted to write some fluff to have something to post for valentine's day, so after some tweaks and revisions, here it is!

 

260214 edit: im literally supposed to post this Right Now but yesterday nien brought up seoyeon on fromm as soon as someone mentioned valentine's day aughhh they make me ill.

 

plot

 

131 fluff. that's it, that's the plot. but, in all seriousness, i did know that this was going to be a dialogue-heavy one, where it's just them confessing their love for each other for 2k 3k words straight(gay). of course, i couldn't resist adding chaewon, and originally this wasn't even going to reference sleepless nights at all, but when the opportunity arose i found it quite fitting.

 

again, the interactions between nien and chaewon are so cute and could they Please just acknowledge strawberry family for us Please. which is to say this is my plea for them to interact with each other.

 

in general, i just love the concept of promise rings. especially because, as idols, they can't really do anything big like get married while they're young, so using promise rings as a signifier is just so Heartwarming to me, i love it. the rings are also inspired by these images of them on their new year's day date, where they're both wearing rings. like Woah. i know they're not exactly the same rings Nor was it valentine's day when they posted it but Still. seeing them with the rings did something to me.

 

 

final thoughts

 

in all this was just something short and fun, and initially i was hesitant on even posting it until i added the more sentimental parts. because fluff is better with sentimentality (and humor) in my opinion. as always, please let's All love sunnyz (who are Not gay4pay, something that was wreaking havoc in wavland when i was writing this. if you want to hear my full thoughts on the matter i talked about it on my twitter @meonghamm but that's getting besides the point). let's have a sunnyzful 2026 yeoreobun
